Why can't I summon the Mechanical Worm? ›

The Mechanical Worm is a Hardmode item used to summon The Destroyer, the Hardmode version of the Eater of Worlds. It can only be used during the night; attempting to use it during the day will neither summon the boss nor consume the item.

The Twins can be summoned manually using a Mechanical Eye at night (7:30 PM to 4:30 AM). They also have a 1/10 (10%) chance to spawn naturally at dusk once a Demon or Crimson Altar has been destroyed, as long as they have not yet been defeated at least once in the current world.

When spawning naturally, a mechanical boss spawns exactly 81 seconds after the status message has appeared. Being in a layer lower than the Surface at that moment, or, in singleplayer, exiting the world during that timespan, will prevent the boss from spawning naturally.

The Ice Sickle is a good choice for all of the mechanical bosses, especially The Destroyer and other worm-like bosses.

Terrarian. In my opinion, the Skeletron Prime is the easiest of all of the Mechanical Bosses. It literraly just flies around, aimlessly trying to shoot stuff that usually misses and a chainsaw that can hit you, but you heal fast enough to take it on.

Shadowflame Knife is a powerful choice due to its ability to bounce off the Destroyer, hitting it and its Probes multiple times. Yoyo Bag, as it gives a wide attacking area, as well as kill the heart-dropping Probes without having to directly target them.

The Eater of Worlds is a pre-Hardmode Corruption-themed worm boss. It is summoned using Worm Food from within The Corruption or Underground Corruption, or by destroying 3 Shadow Orbs that spawn in Corruption worlds.

When The Destroyer is off-screen, it can move around freely, even without blocks, similarly to a Wyvern. The Destroyer is extremely long, measuring 82 segments including head and tail, or 239 tiles in length.

The Pet Worm is a pet summoned by using the Suspicious Looking Apple item. If the player has reached a certain distance from it, it will fly towards the player while wearing a red headband, leaving a trail of clouds behind it.
